Did you ever stop to think where your money goes when you make a purchase?
Who are you supporting when you make a purchaser from a big box store? How about a purchase online? Consider this information from the folks at the 3/50 project: For every $100 spent in locally owned independent stores, $68 returns to the community through taxes, payroll and other expenditures. If you spend that in a national chain, on $43 stays in the local community. Spend that same amount online and none of it comes home.
Why are we so quick to give our money to people we don’t know? Shouldn’t we consider allowing a local store to earn our business? Perhaps we’d pay a tick more locally than the online outlet (although not always the case), but the level of service you will receive from the local small business more than outweighs the potential few dollars cost difference.
I think nearly all of us know someone who operates small business and more than likely you’ve given them your business because you trust them and want to see their business succeed. It is time to rebuild the foundation of what makes our country great, and knowing who you are buying from and how that supports your local economy is a big step in the right direction. That is why we urge you to sleep local at Mattress Depot USA. [Shameless Plug]
